Fit-for-55 package

Project Description

In the context of the European Green Deal, the European Commission will overhaul the relevant climate and energy legislation to align with the newly proposed target to reduce GHG emissions by at least 55% by 2030. This will be brought together in a ‘Fit for 55 Package’, which will cover everything from renewables to energy efficiency, buildings, land use, energy taxation, effort sharing and emissions trading, as well as a wide range of other pieces of legislation.

The purpose of this project is to provide analysis and materials that can be communicated to public authorities, especially the ministries of energy and environment, that can provide support for the EU-level negotiations and the immediate decarbonization priorities. Our aim is to delineate Romania’s priorities in the context of the Fit-for-55% package and to analyse the two key issues for decarbonisation: coal phaseout and offshore wind.
