EU Calculator in the assessment of energy and climate public policy
Project Description
EU Calculator, according to its own description (www.european-calculator.eu), allows for readily accessible quantitative comparisons between scenarios with respect to energy demand and GHG emission trajectories across sectors (energy, transport, buildings, agriculture, etc.). The tool is sensitive not only to choices of energy technologies, but also to the impact of consumers’ lifestyles.
Moreover, the model is currently being expanded with a water module for quantifications of the water-energy-food nexus, a raw materials module for the evaluation of resource use efficiency and the enhancement of circular economy, a land use change module in line with the Paris Agreement obligations, a socio-economic development module to assess the impacts of decarbonization of the economy and society, a renewable energy sources module, as well as an energy storage module.
