ConsenCUS – Carbon Neutral clusters through Electricity-based innovations in Capture, Utilisation and Storage

Project Description

The ConsenCUS project aims to directly address the problem of CO2 emissions of important industrial sectors (such as the cement and magnesia production) through development and demonstration of novel versatile carbon capture and conversion technologies -on-site, in major production plants of these industries; i.e, Aalborg Portland in Denmark and Grecian Magnesite in Greece -, with the cost of capture, overall energy efficiency, and environmental impact used as key performance indicators.

Notably, the ConsenCUS outcome aims to benefit not only the cement and magnesia production sectors, but instead offer a holistic CCUS solution readily applicable across a wide range of industrial processes. In this light, the ConsenCUS solution will be also demonstrated on-site in a major oil refinement plant (OMV Petrom in Romania).
