Aliaksei Patonia is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES) currently conducting research on the technologies of large-scale long-term energy storage that would allow for a more rapid global transition from fossil fuels to renewables.
Prior to joining the OIES, he was a Research Fellow at the Open Development Cambodia – one of Southeast Asia’s largest and most influential open data initiatives – where he delved into the topics of strategic environmental assessment, energy and natural resource management.
While obtaining degrees in public policy (Oxon), sustainable development (St And) and oil and gas management (Lpool), Aliaksei combined his academic investigations with professional experience from both public and private sectors.
At the moment, his key research interests include sustainable development, energy transition, energy policy and geopolitics.
